Northside Park

Native Plants Project

With funding help from Fairfax County and with the cooperation of the Town's Department of Parks and Recreation, NEVCA has developed a program to introduce native varieties of plants -- hardy varieties that are less susceptible to damage by non-native, invasive plants -- into Northside Park.

Our first planting event, pictured below, was held April 10, 2010; it focused on some areas in the upper part of the park. We will do other plantings throughout the year; our next focus will be along Piney Branch, once some of the invasive plants are removed from that area. Thanks to Mary Ellen Larkins for the photos.
